Molly earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the College of Communications at The Pennsylvania State University. She also earned minors in Spanish and in history.
While studying at Penn State, Molly worked full-time as a reporter, then editor at The Daily Collegian, an award-winning daily newspaper covering student life in and around State College, Pa. It was at the Collegian where Molly received most of her journalism training and discovered her passion for page design and editing work.
Following graduation, Molly worked at The Reading Eagle Company, publisher of the Reading Eagle and Reading Times newspapers, for three-and-a-half years. While there, she honed her skills as a page designer then was promoted to the position of Voices editor. That award-winning publication is a 20-page tabloid written by, for and about teens in Berks County, Pa. Molly guided a staff of about 100 freelance teens who wrote, photographed and created graphics of professional quality for the weekly section. She also coached one full-time adult writer, two part-time interns, a designer and several graphic artists.
Next, Molly accepted a job as assistant managing editor at The Gazette newspaper in Frederick, Md. After about 18 months, Molly was promoted to managing editor and took responsibility for a staff of seven reporters, a copy editor, interns and photographers. She continues to guide that staff in producing a high-quality, award-winning weekly newspaper.
Molly has won back-to-back awards at the Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Press Association annual awards ceremony. In 2007, she won 1st place in Editorial Writing, and in 2008, she won 1st place in Page 1 Design.
Molly lives in beautiful downtown Frederick, Md., with her husband, son, and dog, and enjoys taking long walks with all of them in Baker Park.
